About me

Credentials

I am a clinical health psychologist, with training both in Brazil and the United States, currently under the techno-ethical orientation of the CRP in the 8ª. Region (Conselho Regional de Psicologia – Paraná).

In Brazil, I completed a BA in Psychology at the Universidade Estadual de Maringá, and practical training at Centro Universitário Cesumar in Paraná. In the United States, I completed a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at the New School for Social Research in New York, and a postdoctoral fellowship in Psychosocial Oncology at Rush MD Anderson Cancer Center in Chicago.

Theoretical Approach

Throughout all my training and clinical work, psychoanalytic theory has permeated my being in the therapeutic field that I establish with my patients. This means that I invite and count on their active participation, so they can become direct collaborators in the building of a therapeutic alliance that allows for acceptance, emotional healing and personal growth.

Method

I adopt an integrative approach to address their specific needs, such as implementing Mindfulness skills, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), or CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) techniques. These have shown to be efficient in managing symptoms, such as anxiety during transitions in life, adjustment to medical conditions and treatment, or extreme stress/burnout in the work environment.

More than holding emotional distress, accompanying my patients through moments of physical, psychological e existential disorganization, I diligently seek to assist them in recognizing their strengths and making use of their inner resources. This will facilitate good coping while transcending situations that challenge their understanding of their own existence, the others' and the life that surrounds them.
