Grief

Challenges

Grief is a natural response to the loss of a family member or friend, and many times involves prolonged periods of sadness and missing someone.

Divorce or geographical separations can equally lead to different grief experiences. Changes of life cycles, such as the transition from childhood to teenage, the loss or impairment of functioning after treatment of a critical medical condition or accident can also lead to processes of grief. That is because they impact considerably the way we express ourselves in the world and relate to ourselves.

Grief can be even more complex when circumstances of the loss were traumatic, the relationship with the one who passed was difficult, when there is history of trauma or psychiatric disorders, and lack of social support.

Approach

Thus, I seek to offer a warm space for the patient to get in touch with their grief, and find a healthy way to reorganize themselves psychosocial and spiritually before a meaningful loss, rebuilding their relationship with the one who passed, or that part of themselves or their lives that changed temporary or permanently.
